Fall Party – November 5

Please join us for our annual Fall Party on Saturday, November 5th. Members should have received a Punchbowl invitation for the event, and make sure you respond with the dish you will be bringing. As with last year, the Club will provide the turkey. Any questions, feel free to contact Carol A. who is pulling this all together with your help!

General Meeting and Chili Cook-off, October 6

Please join us for our General Meeting on Thursday, October 6, 6:30pm, at the PBYC clubhouse, 1363 Spinnaker Dr., Ventura Harbor.

Instead of a BBQ, each person is invited and encouraged to enter the LPSC Great Chili Cook-off and bring a pot of your special chili for folks to sample. First Prize is $25 and Second Prize is $10. The club will provide little cups and spoons for tasting of each entrant’s chili. The club will also provide some chili so no-one goes hungry. Whether you bring chili or not, please bring a side dish or dessert to share!

So start researching recipes and thinking of a descriptive name for your chili, and be ready to start cookin’ next week!

We have some exciting fall events coming up that we will discuss, including a trip to the Getty Museum, arranged by Carol A., and our upcoming Fall Party.

Summer Beach Party – Sunday, September 18 10:00am-2:00pm

Carol A has organized this year’s Summer Beach Party, which is moved and will be at Marina Park, 2950 Pierpont Blvd, Ventura, starting at 10:00am. Come early to find great parking in the Marina Parking lot and look for our group. We will have GAMES, FOOD, and FRIENDSHIP!

Come early!  The club will provide starter champagne and OJ (for Mimosas), bagels, and cream cheese.   We will also provide sandwiches for lunch.  Please bring a side dish or dessert to share.

Everyone is reminded to bring:

  • Beach Chair
  • Beverages, water and BYOB – (club is only providing Mimosas)
  • Sunscreen
  • Towel
  • Side dish or dessert

It will be fun as always!

TGIT @ Winchesters Grill & Saloon, Ventura – August 18 4:00pm to 6:00pm

The Los Padres Ski and Social Club will host their TGIT happy hour Thursday, August 18 from 4:00 – 6:00pm at Winchester’s Grill &  Saloon, 632 East Main Street in downtown Ventura (across the street from the library).

Winchester’s has a great happy hour menu and there will be live music. Meet us outside at the back of the patio.

  • Wagyu Kobe Hot Dog,

Summer BBQ & General Meeting, August 4 @ 6:30pm

At 6:30pm on Thursday, August 4, we will hold our General Meeting at the Pierpont Bay Yacht Club (PBYC), 1363 Spinnaker Dr, Ventura. We will provide BBQ Burgers and Chicken!  Bring a side dish or dessert to share.

We have a speaker joining us at 7:00pm.  Please come show support for our club and our invited guest, Climate Scientist Don Price. As a retired engineer and past president of the Air and Waste Management Association (A&WMA) Channel Islands chapter,  Mr. Price has spoken to thousands of people on climate issues.  We welcome Mr. Prices’ expertise, predictions and solutions as we navigate a way forward.

TGIT Electric Boat Cruise, July 21, 3:15 pm

For a fun change, Carol Arenson has arranged for the club to rent an Electric Boat and take a happy hour cruise of Channel Islands Harbor! We will meet at 3:15pm (sharp!) at HOPPER BOAT RENTALS, 2741 Victoria Ave, Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard CA 93035.

They are located at the Fisherman’s Wharf at Channel Islands Harbor.

Cost is $35/person and includes:

  • Approximately 2 hour cruise of Channel Islands Harbor
  • Sandwiches
  • Appetizers (cheese, chips, dips, etc)
  • Bottled water
  • Plasticware for your BYOB drinks, and paper goods

You will provide your own drink (BYOB). As we are on a boat, do not bring your own glassware or anything easily breakable. The club will provide plastic wine glasses and plastic cups to be safe.

General Meeting, Thursday, June 2nd, 6:30pm

At 6:30pm on Thursday, June 2, we will hold our General Meeting at the Pierpont Bay Yacht Club (PBYC), 1363 Spinnaker Dr, Ventura. We will have a BBQ and the club will provide Burgers and Chicken; you provide a side dish or dessert to share.

This month Jeff Heath will be providing a talk with slides and GoPro movies about skiing at Revelstoke, Canada with Ski Crew March 1019. It is a fun presentation, so make sure you attend.

We also will be updating you on upcoming Social Events, including the trip to the Infamous Magic Castle, June and July’s TGITs, Rafting on the South Fork of the American River (Note Payment is due, bring your checkbook!), and other events in the planning stage.

And of course, we will have our raffle with exciting prizes. Some come and have a great time!

Please join us for our General Meeting on Thursday, April 7th, 6:30pm. The meeting will be at the Pierpont Bay Yacht Club, 1363 Spinnaker Dr., Ventura Harbor. This will be our first BBQ of the season, so the club will provide burgers and chicken, and we ask each person to bring a side dish or dessert to share.

April is considered our Annual Membership meeting and we will be taking nominations for Board Positions and voting in our new board. Many of our board members have served the club for a long time and we are looking for new blood to lead us out of COVID and back into great times! Our Secretary and VP of Membership have indicated they wish to be nominated to continue in their positions and we are especially interested in folks interested in being nominated as Social Vice President (VP) as we wish to continue to have at least 2 Social VPs for the next year. At the meeting, we will be announcing and taking sign-ups for several exciting spring and summer events, including:

  • Seal Rookery Walk,
