Holiday Lights Cruise, Thursday, December 15, 6:30 pm

Now is the time to book your Holiday Lights Cruise for Thursday, December 15.  Enjoy a cruise of the Ventura Harbor and the Ventura Keys to view the holiday lights and listen to music. Dress warm, no high heels. Cash & Credit Card galley with snacks and beverages. Don’t be left dockside because this cruise will sell out! There are three ways to book:

  • Go to the Island Packers office at the Ventura Harbor, go online and click on https://reserve.islandpackers.com/  Go to “All Trips” and use the December calendar or go to “Harbor Cruise” and that will also take you to the December calendar.  Or you can call (805) 642-1393.

The group rate is the same as the senior rate ($16 for 55 and older) so we are on our own for making reservations. Other rates: Adult (13-54) $18 and child (3-12) $12 and under 3 are free. The cruise starts at 6:30pm, after the  Happy Hour at The Greek.

Ventura Harbor Parade of Lights, Saturday, December 17, 5:00pm

We are invited guests of the Pierpont Bay Yacht Club (PBYC) to the Ventura Harbor Annual Parade of Lights And Potluck Dinner. The event starts at PBYC on Saturday December 17th with the Bar opening at 5:00PM and the potluck dinner following.

The 2022 theme pays homage to all things outer space – Out of This World! We are looking forward to a very colorful boat parade, which we can view from the club or down on the docks. We’ll SEA you there!

And remember, please bring a dish to share!

General Meeting and Holiday Gift Exchange, Thursday December 1st, 7pm

Our General Meeting will be Thursday, December 1 at 7 PM at the Pierpont Bay Yacht Club in Ventura Harbor. We will have our annual Holiday Gift Exchange. All participants should bring a nicely wrapped gift (new and valued at ~$20). Each participant will get a number and then the fun begins as we choose gifts from the table of wrapped gifts or gifts are “stolen” from those who have already chosen one. Don’t worry, rules will be explained at the meeting. Also bring a snack to share and the bar will be open for purchases.

General Meeting, Thursday November 3, 7:00pm

NOTE: We are now in our winter hours General Meeting mode so this meeting starts at 7:00pm

Please join us for our General Meeting at the Pierpont Bay Yacht Club, 1363 Spinnaker Dr, Ventura Harbor, at 7:00pm. Janie will be showing us how to do simple line dances in preparation of our Fall Dinner on Saturday. Also, Bryan will be discussing our Feb 28 – March 5 Mammoth ski trip and providing more details on lodging and costs. We are staying at the Alpenhof Lodge, across the street from the village with easy access to lifts, restaurants and shopping! Will be a fun trip!

Also, if you haven’t already, please bring your membership renewal form and dues payment. Dues can be paid by check or cash; we also accept Zelle and Venmo.

Hot out of the kiln & made especially for LPSC — Handmade ceramic logo mugs by club member Rebecca Catterall will be available for sale at the November meeting. This is a club fundraiser – and you get to have your daily coffee or tea and help support the club activities. Each mug is $25 and can go in the dishwasher and microwave. (A spoon rest and coasters will be available too.)

Fall Party – November 5

Please join us for our annual Fall Party on Saturday, November 5th. Members should have received a Punchbowl invitation for the event, and make sure you respond with the dish you will be bringing. A Day at the Getty Museum, Wednesday October 26th

One of our social VPs, Carol A., is a former docent and has set up a tour of the J. P. Getty Museum, 1200 Getty Center Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90049, Wednesday, October 26. Admission is free, though parking is $20. We will encourage car pools to arrive at the Museum by 10:00 AM as parking is limited.

Once at the museum, you can stroll through the galleries and sign up for various docent led tours:

  • COLLECTION TOUR: 45 min. Explore the galleries and engage in group discussions of selected artworks.  11:30am , 12:30, 1:30pm, 2:30 pm.
  • GARDEN TOUR – 45 min. Explore the garden designed by Robert Irwin. 11:00 am, 12:00pm , 1:00pm, 2:00pm.
  • EXPLORE the GETTY ARCHITECTURE – 45 min. 11:00am, 12:00 pm, 1pm, 2pm.

Sign up for all tours are first come, first serve and meet 15 min. before at the Information Desk.

Covid Protocols: The museum adheres to the Los Angeles County Dept. of Public Safety protocols.  Face Masks are required on the TRAM – All visitors over the age of 2 must wear a face mask over the nose & mouth “when riding on the tram.”

Oktoberfest TGIT, Thursday Oct 20, 4 – 6 pm

In honor of Octoberfest (which is really in September), Rebecca has arranged for our next TGIT Happy Hour at Fluid State Beer Garden, 692 E Main St, Ventura, CA 93001, in downtown Ventura. We will meet from 4-6 pm.

Fluid State has a Happy Hour that features $1 off draft beer and wine, and specials on slices of pizza, including Hanker-for-a-Hunk-O’ and DR. Pepperoni slices. They also have a variety of other tasty items.
