We haven’t been to Social Tap for a while, so Rebecca is having us meet up there on June 23rd, 4 – 6 pm. Social Tap is located at 1105 S Seaward Ave, Ventura CA 93001.
The owners of Social Tap have developed the concept only knowing the restaurant business from the customer side of the table. Their vision is to focus on customer service, great food using high quality ingredients, creative cocktails & an emphasis on local craft beer. Everything that comes out of the Social Tap kitchen is scratch made, from their signature sandwiches, braised tacos or wing sauces. It is their firm belief that great food is the foundation to a restaurant’s identity, therefore they don’t cut corners. You can view their menu by clicking on this link https://socialtapeatery.com/ventura-location/, and then clicking on “Order Online”

Bryan has pulled together a very awesome rafting trip that is enjoyable for all. He has reserved 10 spots for river rafting on the south fork of the American River for July 8 – 10. Trip will include 1 1/2 days rafting, Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Sunday breakfast and lunch. There will be options for tent cabin camping, camping on your own, and staying in private accommodations (motel/hotel).
This is a two day rafting adventure. We’ll arrive Friday night at American River’s private camp on the river and you will have an opportunity to set up your overnight gear. You can opt for a tent cabin complete with cots, sleeping pads, chairs and a table, or you can provide your own tent and gear. Saturday morning breakfast is provided, and then we will raft the famous Gorge section. Half-way down, we’ll stop for a delicious deli-style lunch, then raft onward to Folsom Lake. Following refreshments, we will board the shuttle for a short, scenic ride back to camp. As the chef starts cooking our big, country-style BBQ dinner, we invite you to fish, play volleyball, toss horse shoes, take a hot shower, or just relax and enjoy a cold beverage along with scrumptious appetizers. After a tasty dessert, enjoy the rest of your evening swapping stories around a glowing campfire.
The following morning (Sunday), we’ll share a hearty breakfast and board the bus up river to Chili Bar. You will raft the mighty Chili Bar section down to our camp where lunch will be served. This 21-mile long journey ends after lunch at approximately 1:00 PM on Sunday.

As announced at the LPSC meeting last Thursday, Rebecca has arranged a trip to the islands…we are going with Island Packers to Santa Cruz Island (were you thinking Hawaii? Sorry!) on Sunday May 22. We will take the 9:30 boat out of Ventura Harbor to Prisoner’s Harbor with an option to stay on the boat (extra fee required) to the Painted Cave.
If you are interested in joining, either call Island Packers at 805-642-1393, or follow the links below for more information and to sign up with Island Packers. Since the group rate is the same as the senior rate we decided to have participants sign up with Island Packers on their own. Senior roundtrip is $58 and the extra fee for the Painted Cave is $17.
This will be an all-day outing and you will need to bring food and water for the day. There are hikes on the island and we plan to have a beach picnic!
If you plan to stay on the boat for the Painted Cave, you will be brought back to Prisoner’s Harbor with plenty of time (about 3 hours) for a hike/picnic. The boat home leaves Prisoner’s Harbor at 4:30.
Occasionally Island Packers has to cancel a trip due to weather. Rebecca will be monitoring the Island Packers site the day of our trip. If you plan to go on the trip, email us at LosPadresSkiClub@gmail.com and we will notify participants by 8 AM of any changes! It will also be helpful to know who is going for planning time on the island.
Make sure you sign up for the May 22 9:30 trip to Prisoner’s Harbor, return 4:30. This trip will sell out…so don’t delay and miss the boat… To sign up for Prisoner’s Harbor, go to https://islandpackers.com/prisoners-harbor-day-trip-sci/
