Please join us for a leisurely walk to the Harbor Seal Rookery at the beach in Carpinteria at 10:00am, April 9th. We will be meeting at the Bluffs Parking lot, which is at the Bailard Avenue exit off the 101 on the oceanside (west) side of the 101. The Harbor Seal Preserve is home to almost 100 adult seals who give birth to their cubs on the Carpinteria shoreline this time of year. If folks can celebrate New Year’s Eve at 9 PM, then we can celebrate St. Paddy’s Day early, too! In fact, two days early!
Your Los Padres Ski Club will have its TGIT on Tuesday, March 15 (instead of March 17 which will be very busy at a lot of restaurants).
Please join us outdoors (if it rains, we will be indoors) at Dargans Irish Pub and Restaurant from 4-6 PM on March 15. Dargans has been around since 2004 and is located at Chestnut and 593 Main St., Ventura. Dargans has a fine selection of Irish Whiskeys, Beers, and other great Cocktails!

Mr. Glaubman of the Nickolay Dodov Foundation (NDF) will provide a Zoom presentation on avalanche safety as well as other aspects of backwoods safety. The Nickolay Dodov Foundation is a part of a Nationwide movement to educate youth and all-age winter sports enthusiasts to stay safe in winter environment. Over the last 10 winters an average of 39 people died in avalanches each winter in North America. To prevent avalanche fatalities and injuries Avalanche Education is essential!

Using an abundance of caution, the Board has decided to cancel the January General Meeting and January social events (including TGIT) due to the large uptick in COVID among both the unvaccinated and fully vaccinated people. We are hoping the surge will peak in the next few weeks and we can have our next General Meeting on February 3. We will keep you posted.
A head’s up, we plan to have a sporting equipment/clothing swap meet at the next General Meeting on February 3. So if you have skiing or other sporting equipment and clothing you no longer need, plan to bring it to the February General Meeting to sell, swap or give away!
